Cross Country

Cross-country runs, sometimes abbreviated to XC, are running events over natural terrain such as dirt, grass and occasionally gravel paths. Held during the winter months (Oct-March), these events are perfect for athletes training out of season as well as non-competitive runners wanting a different challenge.

Walney Wind Cheetahs compete in the The Mid Lancs Cross-Country League – http://www.midlancs.org.uk/

The Mid Lancs League is an association of athletics clubs in the North West of England, set up to provide competition in Cross Country and Track & Field for athletes from 9, in Cross Country, to 109.

The XC season is typically 6 events in locations such as Blackburn, Blackpool, Burnley, Liverpool & Hyndburn.

Its very much a team sport where each club runner who completes at an XC event gets points for their finish position which adds in to the total team score.
